Speaker Steve Thomas has recently made a number of visits to Hawks and Company. As speaker on organizational development, Steve teaches people how to become the best version of themselves, and shows us how to not only understand our wants and needs, but also how to understand “the complexities of human weirdness”.
Starting with a short personality test to determine which of a four color system each of the team are, Steve dives under the surface and starts to push the boundaries of what we know about our colleagues.
Each color has specific traits. For example, greens like to receive all of the information so they can make an informed decision, where as an orange may jump from idea to idea. A gold is organized and more task orientated, meanwhile blues tend to move forward using emotion as their guide.
Once we all had an understanding of who we are as individuals it was time to learn how we can be more of an effective team. This raised some fun questions that taught us a lot about how to communicate better using each other’s colors to guide us.
As well as learning about the men and women we work with, these talks have made us more aware thereby improving our conversations and partnerships with our customers.
The Leadership team then met with Steve on a separate occasion to start to understand how to become better leaders. We discussed at length what it takes to become leaders worth following.
As we grow as a team we strive to be better, it was truly a great occasion to have Steve with us and teach us how we can foster connection with our employees and customers.
