Warehouse expansion, South Jersey
Challenge: Inconsistent temperatures in the space along with an ineffective and inefficient hydronic hot water heating system, resulting occupant discomfort and reduced productivity
Solution: Hawks & Company performed a design-build project for a 60,000 square foot expansion and existing 40,000 square foot warehouse. Hawks installed 3 Johnson Air Rotation gas fired heating units along with an integrated warehouse and garage exhaust system.
Results: The client now experiences minimal temperature difference from floor to ceiling and a resultant increase in occupant comfort and productivity, as well as the benefit of a more efficient heating system. By performing a value-engineered project, the client now can benefit from a complete upgrade of the mechanical infrastructure along with a $20,000 a year in gas savings.
By earning the client’s trust through this job, Hawks was asked to provide a design-build solution for their corporate office space, requiring the retrofit of an existing 40-ton rooftop unit redesigned to a 20-ton rooftop unit. This job resulted in an energy savings of over 40% on the client’s utility bill.
