NEW JERSEY EDUCATION ASSOCIATION FIGHTS HUMIDITY, SAVES ENERGY WITH HAWKS

Deptford, NJ -- (June 2010)-Hawks & Company, a leader in energy-focused HVAC maintenance and services for commercial facilities, recently completed the design and installation of an energy efficient air system for the New Jersey Education Association.

The New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) occupies a 50,000 square foot facility on State Street in Trenton facing the New Jersey State Capitol. The landmark facility is comprised of a historic brownstone adjoining a ten-year old state of the art building and houses government office, conference, and training facilities. When high humidity levels inside the building were reported to impact employee productivity and IT equipment operation, Hawks & Company identified the problem and delivered a cost-effective solution.

Hawks & Company implemented and installed a makeup air system to replace ventilated air from inside the building with fresh outside air. Hawks converted the existing mechanical equipment into a heat recovery system to capture the energy from the exhaust air and use it to precondition the makeup air. The result is a solution that not only improves indoor air quality inside the building; it also conserves energy and lowers utility costs. Lower humidity levels will ensure that employees can work comfortably and safely, and sensitive IT equipment will operate properly.
